Overview

The platform is a task management and workflow tool built specifically for corporate attorneys. It streamlines legal workflows by centralizing task assignments, document management, and approval tracking in one place. Key features include automated reminders, customizable templates, and integrated document management, all tailored to legal processes. The tool helps attorneys stay organized, prioritize tasks, and reduce administrative overhead, allowing them to focus on high-value work.

Challenges

Building Dola from scratch meant creating an MVP specifically for corporate attorneys and their unique workflows. We had to manage the complexities of team shifts, deadlines, document approvals, and multiple active matters while keeping the tool easy to use. The challenge was to integrate essential features - email integration, automated reminders, and document tracking - without cluttering the interface. We also needed a system that helped attorneys prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, even under high pressure.

High Level Goals

01

Create a comprehensive, streamlined tool specifically for corporate attorneys, integrating task management, approval workflows, and automated reminders within a single platform for a seamless legal workflow experience.

02

Reduce time spent on non-billable tasks by bringing all essential functions into one platform, eliminating the need to juggle multiple tools and allowing attorneys to focus more on high-value legal work.

Process

Deep dive
I began by conducting interviews with stakeholders to understand the project goals and gathered insights from the target audience to identify their specific needs. I also performed a competitor review to analyze existing solutions in the market and how Dola could stand out.
Planning & Structure
I then created the platform’s structure, outlining the user flows and how various features would interact. This was accompanied by a mood board to set the visual tone for the platform, ensuring consistency in the design language.
Build & Collaborate
At this stage, I started with simple, low-fidelity wireframes to map out the basic structure of the platform. Once the overall layout was clear, I moved on to high-fidelity wireframes to add more detail and polish. This process helped bring the product to life visually and allowed us to quickly test ideas and make changes based on feedback.
Test & Tweak
After the wireframes were solidified, I developed the final designs and user flows, ensuring that the platform would be intuitive and aligned with user expectations. I worked closely with the development team to ensure seamless implementation of the designs.
Next steps
Moving forward, we’ll focus on improving the platform by talking to users and gathering their feedback. We plan to make updates based on their needs and add new features to ensure the platform continues to grow and evolve.

Impact

The platform’s launch generated strong early adoption, with user feedback guiding continuous improvements. By simplifying task management and reducing time spent on non-billable work, the tool allows attorneys to focus on higher-value tasks. Customization options and automated reminders have boosted efficiency, creating a more organized and effective workflow.

MVP Validation Success

Our hypothesis that the features included in the MVP would be sufficient was successfully validated.

Platform Launch

We successfully launched the platform, and our first customers have already started using it and providing valuable feedback.

Key Learnings

This project has given me several valuable insights along the way

Listen First, Design Second

Talking to real users early on revealed the hidden challenges attorneys face. Their feedback became the blueprint, guiding every decision and helping us create a product that truly solves their problems.

Wireframes are Worth Gold

Starting with lo-fi sketches allowed us to dream big while staying nimble. Moving to hi-fi wireframes helped us bring those dreams closer to reality, all while tweaking and refining based on what users loved—or didn’t.

Collaboration Makes Magic

From brainstorming with the CEO and PM to working closely with the dev team, the project came alive through tight collaboration. Each piece of the puzzle fit perfectly when all teams worked together.

MVP is Just the Beginning

Launching the MVP wasn’t the finish line—it was the starting gun. We knew from day one that real progress would come from listening, learning, and iterating, ensuring the platform grows and evolves with every user’s feedback.
